News that Montreal's La Presse will abandon paper and go entirely digital within three to five years is a bit of a shocker.

The shock is not that they are abanding paper but that they are the largest newspaper to make the announcement.

More interesting to me is that the publisher says they will incent readers to subscribe by offering a free iPad.

I'm happy to say I predicted this a year or more ago.

Now, if we could just get some competition in the touch screen market, I'm anxious to buy a pad but I'm going to wait until the right pad comes around.

I can't wait to stop stuffing my blue bin and switch to screen. Yes, I'll miss paper but I will be happy because it will be the dawn of a new era of journalism, where content is again restored to the throne as king.
